Jealousy Hounded God’s Chosen Women
Open in the reader →1To these men, who had conducted themselves in holiness, there was gathered a great multitude of the elect, who, having suffered many outrages and tortures because of jealousy, became a most beautiful example among us.
2Because of jealousy, women were persecuted as Danaids and Dircae; after suffering terrible and unholy outrages, they safely reached the goal of the faith and received a noble reward, though weak in body.
3Jealousy estranged wives from their husbands and altered what was spoken by our father Adam: “This now is bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh.”
4Because of jealousy and strife, great cities have been overthrown and great nations uprooted.
