1 Kings 7

1Solomon built his own house for thirteen years, and he finished all his house.

2He built the House of the Forest of Lebanon, one hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high, on four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams on the pillars.

3It was paneled with cedar above, over the side chambers that were on the pillars, forty-five in all, fifteen to a row.

4There were three rows of window frames, with window opposite window three times.

5All the doorways and the doorposts had square frames, and window was opposite window three times.

6He made the Hall of Pillars fifty cubits long and thirty cubits wide, with a porch in front of them, and pillars and a threshold in front of them.

7And he made the Hall of the Throne, where he was to judge—the Hall of Judgment—and it was paneled with cedar from floor to floor.

8His house where he was to live, in the other court farther back from the Hall, was of the same workmanship. He also made a house like this Hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom Solomon had taken as wife.

9All these were costly stones, cut according to measure, sawed with a saw on the inside and on the outside, from the foundation to the coping, and on the outside as far as the great court.

10And the foundation was of costly stones, large stones, stones of ten cubits and stones of eight cubits.

11And above were costly stones, cut according to measure, and cedar.

12And the great court all around had three rows of cut stone and a row of cedar beams, like the inner court of the house of Yahweh and the vestibule of the house.

13Then King Solomon sent and brought Hiram from Tyre.

14He was the son of a widow from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze. He was filled with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to do every kind of work in bronze. So he came to King Solomon and did all his work.

15He cast the two bronze pillars; the height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a line of twelve cubits measured around it.

16He made two capitals of cast bronze to set on the tops of the pillars. The height of the one capital was five cubits, and the height of the second capital was five cubits.

17There were lattices of latticework and twisted cords of chainwork for the capitals that were on the tops of the pillars: seven for the one capital, and seven for the second capital.

18He made the pillars, and two rows all around on the one latticework, to cover the capitals that were on top of the pomegranates; and so he did for the second capital.

19And the capitals that were on the tops of the pillars were made like a lily blossom in the portico, four cubits.

20And the capitals were on the two pillars, also above, opposite the bulge that was beside the latticework; and the pomegranates were two hundred, in rows all around, on the second capital.

21He set up the pillars at the portico of the temple. He set up the right pillar and called its name Jachin; then he set up the left pillar and called its name Boaz.

22And on the top of the pillars was lily-work, and the work of the pillars was finished.

23Then he made the cast sea, ten cubits from brim to brim, round all around; its height was five cubits, and a line of thirty cubits went around it all around.

24And gourds were under its rim all around, encircling it, ten to the cubit, surrounding the Sea all around. The gourds were in two rows, cast in one piece with it.

25It stood on twelve oxen: three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; and the Sea was on them above, and all their rear parts were inward.

26Its thickness was a handbreadth, and its rim was made like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It could hold two thousand baths.

27He made ten bronze stands. The length of each stand was four cubits, its width four cubits, and its height three cubits.

28And this was the construction of the stand: they had frames, and there were frames between the supports.

29And on the panels that were between the frames were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and on the frames likewise above, and beneath the lions and the oxen were wreaths, a work of hanging relief.

30And the one stand had four bronze wheels and bronze axles, and its four corners had supports for them; beneath the basin the supports were cast, each beside wreathwork.

31Its opening projected upward from within the capital by a cubit, and its opening was round, like the work of a pedestal, a cubit and a half; and also on its opening were carvings, and their panels were square, not round.

32And the four wheels were underneath the panels, and the axles of the wheels were on the stand; and the height of each wheel was a cubit and a half.

33The workmanship of the wheels was like the workmanship of a chariot wheel; their axles, their rims, their spokes, and their hubs were all cast metal.

34And there were four supports at the four corners of the one stand; its supports were part of the stand itself.

35And on the top of the stand there was a round rim all around, half a cubit high; and on the top of the stand its supports and its panels were of one piece with it.

36On the panels of its supports and on its frames he engraved cherubim, lions, and palm trees, according to the space on each, with wreaths all around.

37Thus he made the ten stands: one casting, one measure, one form for all of them.

38He made ten bronze basins. Each basin held forty baths, and each basin was four cubits across. One basin stood on each of the ten stands.

39He placed five stands on the right side of the house and five on the left side of the house, and he placed the Sea on the southeast side of the house.

40And Hiram made the basins, the shovels, and the bowls. So Hiram finished doing all the work that he did for King Solomon for the house of Yahweh.

41the two pillars, and the two bowls of the capitals that were on the tops of the pillars, and the two latticeworks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the tops of the pillars;

42and the four hundred pomegranates for the two latticeworks, two rows of pomegranates for each latticework, to cover the two bowl-shaped capitals that were on the tops of the pillars.

43and the ten stands, and the ten basins on the stands,

44and the one Sea, and the twelve oxen under the Sea;

45and the pots, the shovels, the basins, and all these vessels that Hiram made for King Solomon for the house of Yahweh were of burnished bronze.

46In the plain of the Jordan the king cast them, in the clay ground between Sukkoth and Zarethan.

47And Solomon left all the vessels unweighed because they were exceedingly many; the weight of the bronze was not determined.

48And Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of Yahweh: the golden altar, and the table on which was the bread of the Presence, of gold.

49and the lampstands, five on the right and five on the left, before the inner sanctuary, of pure gold; and the flowers, the lamps, and the tongs, of gold.

50and the basins, the snuffers, the bowls, the cups, and the firepans, of pure gold; and the hinges for the doors of the inner house, for the Most Holy Place, and for the doors of the house, that is, the nave, of gold.

51So all the work that King Solomon did for the house of Yahweh was finished. And Solomon brought in the holy things of David his father—the silver, the gold, and the vessels—and put them in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh.
