2 Baruch 1

God Warns Baruch Judah

Open in the reader →

1In the twenty-fifth year of Jeconiah king of Judah, the word of the Lord came to Baruch son of Neriah, saying, / and He said to him,

2“You have seen all that this people has done to me; the evil that these two tribes that remain have done is greater than that of the ten tribes that were taken captive.”

3For the former tribes were compelled by their kings to sin, but these two tribes themselves desired to sin and compelled their kings to sin.

4Therefore behold, I am bringing evil upon this city and upon its inhabitants, and it will be removed from before me for a time, and I will scatter this people among the nations, that they may be servants to the nations.

5And my people will be chastened, and the time will come when they will seek the prosperity of their times.”
