2 Baruch 3

1And I said, “O Lord, my Lord, have I come into the world for this, that I should see the evil of my mother? No, my Lord.

2If I have found grace in your sight, let your mercies quickly take my spirit to yourself, that I may go to my fathers and not see the destruction of my mother.

3For these two things are too much for me: I cannot forsake half of your people, nor can my soul bear to see the destruction of my mother.

4But one thing I will say before you, O Lord:

5If indeed you destroy your city and give over your sanctuary for a time and scatter your people among the nations so that they may be no more,

6Or how will one speak of your praise? Or to whom will what is in your law be explained?

7And that they may see concerning this city, because of the evil of her deeds, that this city is like a bitter widow, and that her humiliation is like sweet spoil?”
