2 Chronicles 31

1And when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and shattered the pillars, cut down the Asherim, and tore down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, and in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had completely destroyed them. Then all the sons of Israel returned, each man to his possession, to their cities.

2And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites according to their divisions, each man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise at the gates of the camps of Yahweh.

3The king’s portion from his own possessions was for the burnt offerings: the burnt offerings of the morning and the evening, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed feasts, as it is written in the Law of Yahweh.

4He also commanded the people, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, so that they might devote themselves to the law of Yahweh.

5And when the matter spread, the sons of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain, new wine, oil, honey, and all the produce of the field; they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything.

6And the people of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of the holy things consecrated to Yahweh their God, and they laid them in heaps, heap upon heap.

7In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and in the seventh month they finished them.

8When Hezekiah and the officials came and saw the heaps, they blessed Yahweh and his people Israel.

9And Hezekiah asked the priests and the Levites about the heaps.

10Azariah the chief priest, of the house of Zadok, said to him, “Since they began bringing the contribution into the house of Yahweh, we have eaten and been satisfied and have had plenty left over, for Yahweh has blessed his people; and what is left is this great abundance.”

11Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare chambers in the house of Yahweh, and they prepared them.

12They brought in the contribution, the tithe, and the holy things faithfully, and Conaniah the Levite was chief over them, with his brother Shimei second.

13Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismakiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were officers under the authority of Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of King Hezekiah and Azariah, the chief officer of the house of God.

14Kore son of Imnah, the Levite, the gatekeeper on the east, was in charge of the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the contribution of Yahweh and the most holy things.

15Under his authority were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, faithfully to distribute to their brothers by divisions, to great and small alike.

16apart from those enrolled by genealogy among the males from three years old and upward, all who entered the house of Yahweh, as the daily matter required, for their service in their duties according to their divisions.

17The genealogical registration of the priests was by their fathers’ houses, and that of the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their duties by their divisions.

18and for the enrollment of all their little ones, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, for all the assembly; for in their faithfulness they consecrated themselves as holy.

19And for the sons of Aaron, the priests, in the pasture lands of their cities, in every city, there were men designated by name to give portions to every male among the priests and to everyone enrolled by genealogy among the Levites.

20Hezekiah did this throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and true before Yahweh his God.

21And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law and the commandment, seeking his God with all his heart, he did and prospered.
