Acts 3

1Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

2And a certain man, lame from his mother’s womb, was being carried, whom they would place every day at the gate of the temple called Beautiful, to ask for alms from those entering into the temple,

3When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms.

4And Peter, together with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, “Look at us.”

5So he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.

6But Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have, this I give to you: in the name of Jesus the Messiah the Nazarene, walk.”

7And taking him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened.

8And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God.

9And all the people saw him walking and praising God,

10And they recognized him, that this was the man who used to sit for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what had happened to him.

11While he was holding on to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astonished, ran together to them at the portico called Solomon’s.

12But when Peter saw it, he answered the people, “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this, or why do you stare at us as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk?”

13The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied before Pilate, when he had decided to release him.

14But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

15but you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

16And on the basis of faith in his name, his name itself has made strong this man whom you see and know; and the faith that is through him has given him this wholeness in the presence of all of you.

17And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers also did.

18But God thus fulfilled what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer.

19Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away,

20so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah appointed for you, Jesus,

21whom heaven must receive until the times of the restoration of all things that God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old.

22Moses indeed said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in everything he says to you.’

23And every person who does not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.

24And all the prophets from Samuel and those after him, as many as spoke, also announced these days.

25You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.’

26To you first, God, having raised up his servant, sent him to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.
