Deuteronomy 33

1This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the sons of Israel before his death:

2And he said: “Yahweh came from Sinai and dawned from Seir upon them; he shone forth from Mount Paran, and came from myriads of holiness; from his right hand came a fiery law for them.”

3Indeed, he loves the peoples; all his holy ones are in your hand, and they sit down at your feet; each receives your words.

4Moses commanded a law for us, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.

5And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people gathered together, the tribes of Israel as one.

6May Reuben live and not die, and may his men be few.

7And this he said for Judah: “Hear, Yahweh, the voice of Judah, and bring him to his people. Let his hands strive for him, and be a help against his adversaries.”

8And of Levi he said: “Your Thummim and your Urim belong to your faithful one, whom you tested at Massah, with whom you contended at the waters of Meribah.”

9who said of his father and his mother, ‘I have not seen him,’ and did not acknowledge his brothers or know his sons; for they kept your word and guarded your covenant.

10They will teach your judgments to Jacob and your law to Israel; they will place incense before you and whole burnt offerings on your altar.

11Bless, O Yahweh, his strength, and accept the work of his hands. Crush the loins of those who rise against him, and of those who hate him, so that they do not rise again.

12And of Benjamin he said: “The beloved of Yahweh dwells in safety by him; he shields him all the day, and he dwells between his shoulders.”

13And of Joseph he said, “Blessed by Yahweh be his land, with the choicest things of heaven, with dew, and from the deep lying beneath,”

14and with the choicest produce of the sun, and with the yield of the months,

15and from the choicest things of the ancient mountains, and from the abundance of the everlasting hills,

16and with the choicest things of the earth and its fullness, and the favor of the one who dwelt in the bush—may it come on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of the one set apart from his brothers.

17His firstborn bull has majesty, and his horns are the horns of a wild ox; with them he will gore peoples together to the ends of the earth. These are the myriads of Ephraim, and these are the thousands of Manasseh.

18And of Zebulun he said, “Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, and Issachar, in your tents.”

19They will call peoples to the mountain; there they will sacrifice righteous sacrifices, for they will draw from the abundance of the seas and from the hidden treasures of the sand.

20And of Gad he said: “Blessed is he who enlarges Gad. He dwells like a lioness, and tears off arm, even scalp.”

21He chose the best land for himself, because there the portion of the ruler was reserved. He came with the heads of the people; he carried out the righteousness of Yahweh, and his judgments with Israel.

22And of Dan he said: “Dan is a lion’s cub; he leaps out from Bashan.”

23And of Naphtali he said: “Naphtali, satisfied with favor and full of the blessing of Yahweh, possess the sea and the south.”

24And of Asher he said: “Most blessed of sons is Asher; may he be favored by his brothers, and may he dip his foot in oil.”

25Your bars shall be iron and bronze, and as your days, so shall your strength be.

26There is none like God, O Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens to help you, and in his majesty on the skies.

27The God of old is a dwelling place, and underneath are everlasting arms. He drove out the enemy before you, and said, ‘Destroy!’

28So Israel lived in safety, alone; Jacob's fountain in a land of grain and new wine; even his heavens dripped dew.

29Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by Yahweh, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty? Your enemies will come cringing to you, and you will tread on their high places.
