Galatians 3

1You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus the Messiah was publicly portrayed as crucified?

2This only I want to learn from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?

3Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

4Did you suffer so many things in vain?—if indeed it really was in vain.

5So then, does the one who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?

6Just as Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,

7Know, then, that those of faith—these are Abraham’s sons.

8And the Scripture, foreseeing that God justifies the nations by faith, proclaimed the good news beforehand to Abraham: “In you all the nations will be blessed.”

9So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the faithful one.

10For all who are of works of the law are under a curse, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not remain in all the things written in the book of the law, to do them.”

11It is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, because "The righteous will live by faith."

12But the law is not from faith; rather, “The one who does them will live by them.”

13The Messiah redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written: “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”

14so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Messiah Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

15Brothers, I am speaking in human terms: even a covenant ratified by a man, no one sets aside or adds to it.

16The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” as referring to many, but as referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Messiah.

17This is what I mean: the law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to abolish the promise.

18For if the inheritance is from the law, it is no longer from a promise; but God has graciously given it to Abraham through a promise.

19Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions until the seed should come to whom the promise had been made, having been ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.

20A mediator is not of one, but God is one.

21Is the law then against the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, then righteousness really would have been from the law.

22But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus the Messiah might be given to those who believe.

23But before faith came, we were being guarded under the law, confined until the faith that was about to be revealed.

24So then, the law has become our guardian until Messiah, so that we might be justified by faith.

25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

26For you are all sons of God through faith in Messiah Jesus.

27For as many of you as were baptized into Messiah have put on Messiah.

28There is no Jew or Greek, there is no servant or free, there is no male and female; for you are all one in Messiah Jesus.

29And if you are Messiah’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.
