Greek Additions to Esther 4

1And it happened on the third day, when she had stopped praying, that she took off the garments of her service and put on her splendor;

2And when she had become visible, having called upon God, the overseer of all and Savior, she took the two maids,

3and one was kept under watch as one being pampered, but the other—

4another followed, easing her clothing; and she

5blushing in the full bloom of her beauty, and her face was cheerful as if affectionate, but her heart was constricted from fear.

6And after she had gone in through all the doors, she stood before the king; and he was sitting on the throne of his kingdom, and was clothed in all the splendor of his majesty.

7...entirely covered with gold and costly stones, and he was very terrifying. And lifting up his face, blazing with splendor at the height of anger, he looked; and the queen fell and changed color in faintness, and she bent down upon the head of the delicate maidservant who was going before her.

8And God changed the king’s spirit to gentleness, and in anguish he sprang up from his throne and took her into his arms until she recovered, and he comforted her with peaceful words.

9And he said to her, “What is it, Esther? I am your brother; take courage.”

10You certainly will not die, for our decree is common.

11Come near.

12And lifting up the golden scepter, he placed it on her neck, and kissed her and said, “Speak to me.”

13And he said to him, “I saw you, lord, like an angel of God, and my heart was troubled with fear because of your glory.”

14For you are wonderful, Lord, and your face is full of grace.

15And while she was speaking, she fell from faintness.

16And the king was troubled, and all his attendants were comforting her.
