Isaiah 11
New King Brings Earthly Peace
Open in the reader →1Then a shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.
And the Spirit of Yahweh will rest on him: a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh.
And his delight shall be in the fear of Yahweh, and he shall not judge by what his eyes see, nor decide by what his ears hear.
but he will judge the poor with righteousness, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth; he will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he will put the wicked to death.
Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.
And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; and the calf and the young lion and the fattened calf will be together, and a little boy will lead them.
The cow and the bear will graze; together their young will lie down, and the lion, like the ox, will eat straw.
The nursing child will play over the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den.
They will not do harm or bring destruction on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh as the waters cover the sea.
And in that day the root of Jesse, who stands as a banner for the peoples—to him the nations will seek, and his resting place will be glory.
And in that day the Lord will again extend his hand, a second time, to recover the remnant of his people who remain, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.
He will raise a banner for the nations, and gather the banished of Israel; he will assemble the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
The jealousy of Ephraim will depart, and the adversaries of Judah will be cut off; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim.
They will swoop down on the shoulder of the Philistines to the west; together they will plunder the sons of the east. Edom and Moab will be the putting forth of their hand, and the sons of Ammon will obey them.
And Yahweh will utterly destroy the tongue of the sea of Egypt, and he will wave his hand over the River with the scorching of his wind; he will strike it into seven streams, and make people walk through in sandals.
And there will be a highway for the remnant of his people that remains from Assyria, as there was for Israel in the day of his coming up from the land of Egypt.
