Isaiah 2

1The word that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2And in the latter days the mountain of the house of Yahweh shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall stream to it.

3And many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For instruction will go out from Zion, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

4And he will judge between the nations and arbitrate for many peoples; and they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and they will not learn war anymore.

5House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.

6For you have forsaken your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of eastern ways, and they practice divination like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.

7His land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to his treasures; his land is filled with horses, and there is no end to his chariots.

8And his land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.

9So man is bowed down, and each person is brought low; do not forgive them.

10Enter into the rock and hide yourself in the dust from before the terror of Yahweh and from the splendor of his majesty.

11The lofty eyes of man will be brought low, and the haughtiness of men will be humbled; and Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day.

12For Yahweh of Armies has a day against all that is proud and lofty, and against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low.

13and against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up, and against all the oaks of Bashan.

14and against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills.

15and against every high tower, and against every fortified wall—

16and against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft.

17The loftiness of man will be brought low, and the exaltation of men will be humbled; and Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day.

18And the idols will completely vanish.

19And they will enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the dust from before the terror of Yahweh and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.

20In that day man will throw away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which they made for him to bow down to, to the moles and to the bats.

21to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the crags, from before the terror of Yahweh and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.

22Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for what is he really worth?
