Isaiah 25

LORD Feasts Removes Death

Open in the reader →

O Yahweh, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed long ago, faithful and sure.

For you have made the city a heap, the fortified town a ruin; the palace of foreigners is no city, it will never be rebuilt.

Therefore a strong people will honor you; a city of ruthless nations will fear you.

For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall.

Like heat in a dry land, you subdue the uproar of strangers; like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is brought low.

And Yahweh of Armies will make on this mountain for all the peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of aged wine—rich food full of marrow, aged wine well refined.

And on this mountain he will swallow up the covering that covers all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from every face, and he will remove the reproach of his people from all the earth, for Yahweh has spoken.

And it will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is Yahweh; we have waited for him. Let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

For the hand of Yahweh will rest on this mountain, and Moab will be trampled down in its place, as straw is trampled down in the water of a dung pit.

And he will spread out his hands in its midst as a swimmer spreads them out to swim, and he will bring down his pride along with the skill of his hands.

And the fortified height of your walls he has brought down, laid low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.
