Jeremiah 45
Baruch Exhausted Under Sorrow
Open in the reader →1The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words in a scroll at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:
2Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning you, Baruch:
3You said, ‘Woe is me now, for Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain. I am weary with my groaning, and I have found no rest.’
4This is what you shall say to him: ‘This is what Yahweh says: Behold, what I have built I am tearing down, and what I have planted I am uprooting, that is, the whole land.’
5And you—are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them, for behold, I am bringing disaster on all flesh, declares the LORD. But I will give you your life as plunder in every place where you go.
