Job 37

1At this also my heart trembles and leaps from its place.

2Listen carefully to the roar of his voice, and the rumbling that comes from his mouth.

3Under all the heavens he sends it out, and his lightning reaches the ends of the earth.

4After it, a voice roars; he thunders with his majestic voice, and he does not hold them back when his voice is heard.

5God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things beyond our knowledge.

6For he says to the snow, “Be on the earth,” and to the rain shower and the showers of his might.

7He seals the hand of every man, so that all men may know his work.

8Then the wild animal enters its lair, and remains in its dens.

9From the chamber comes the storm, and from the scattering winds comes cold.

10By the breath of God ice forms, and the broad waters freeze solid.

11Also, he loads the thick cloud with moisture; he scatters the cloud of his light.

12It turns around and around by his guidance, to accomplish all that he commands them over the face of the inhabited world on the earth.

13Whether for a rod, or for his land, or for steadfast love, he causes it to come.

14Listen to this, Job; stand still and consider the wonders of God.

15Do you know when God lays his charge upon them, and makes the light of his cloud shine?

16Do you know about the balancing of the clouds, the wonders of one perfect in knowledge?

17You whose garments grow hot when the land becomes still from the south—

18can you, with him, hammer out the skies, hard as a cast metal mirror?

19Teach us what we should say to him; we cannot arrange our words because of darkness.

20Should it be told to him that I would speak? Or has a man said that he would be swallowed up?

21And now they do not see the light, bright though it is in the skies; but a wind passes by and clears them.

22From the north comes golden splendor; around God is awesome majesty.

23The Almighty—we cannot find him out—is great in power and abundant in justice and righteousness; he does not oppress.

24Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise of heart.
