Jubilees 17

1And the Lord knew that Abraham was faithful in all his trials; for he had tested him in his country, and with famine, and had tested him through the wealth of kings, and again had tested him through his wife when she was taken away, and through circumcision, and had tested him through Ishmael and Hagar his maidservant when he sent them away. And in everything by which he had tested him, he was found faithful, and his soul was not impatient, and he did not delay in acting; for he was faithful and a lover of the Lord.

2And the Lord said to him, “Abraham, Abraham.” And he said, “Here I am.” And he said, “Take your beloved son whom you love, Isaac, and go into the high land, and offer him there on one of the mountains that I will show you.” And he rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey and took two of his young servants with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood of the offering and went to the place on the third day, and he saw the place from afar. And he came to a well of water, and he said to his young servants, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the boy will go on, and when we have worshiped we will return to you.” And he took the wood of the sacrifice and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. And the two of them went together to that place.

3And he remembered the word that He had spoken to him on the day when Lot was separated from him, and he rejoiced because the Lord had given him seed upon the earth to inherit the earth, and he blessed the Creator with all his mouth.

4And Sarah saw Ishmael joking and dancing, and Abraham rejoicing with great joy, and she became jealous of Ishmael and said to Abraham, “Cast out this maidservant and her son.”

5…and her son, for the son of this servant woman will not be an heir with my son Isaac.” And the matter was very grievous in the sight of Abraham because of his maidservant and because of his son.

6that he should send them away from him. And the Lord said to Abraham, “Do not let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy and because of the servant woman. Whatever Sarah says to you, listen to her voice and do it.”

7For in Isaac a name and seed will be called for you. And concerning the son of this servant woman,

8I will make him into a great nation, because he is from your seed. And Abraham rose early in the morning,

9And he took bread and a skin of water and put them on Hagar's shoulder, and the child, and sent her away. And she went and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba, and the water in the skin was finished, and the child was thirsty and was unable to walk, and he fell.

10And his mother took him and cast him under an olive tree, and she went and sat opposite, at a distance.

11She went a bowshot away, because she said, “Let me not see the death of my child,” and she sat and wept. And an angel of God, one of the holy ones, said to her, “What are you weeping for, Hagar? Rise, take up the child, and hold him with your hand, for God has heard your voice and has seen the child.”

12And He opened her eyes and saw a well of water, and she went and filled the skin with water and gave him drink.

13her child. And she arose and went toward the wilderness of Paran. And the child grew, and he became an archer, and the Lord was with him, and his mother took for him a wife from the daughters of Egypt.

14And she bore him a son and he called his name Nabaioth, for she said, “The Lord is near to me.”

15When I called him. And it came to pass in the seventh week, in the first year, in the first month, in this jubilee, on the twelfth of this month, words came in heaven concerning Abraham, that he was faithful in all that he spoke, and he loved the Lord, and in every trial he was faithful.
