Jubilees 9

1And for the south there came out his portion, for Shem, as far as it approaches the middle of the sea. And for Madai there came out a portion, that he should possess from the west of his two brothers, as far as the islands and as far as their borders.

2And it extends to all the mountains of fire, and it extends toward the west to the sea of Atel, and it extends westward until it reaches the sea of Mauk, that sea into which everything that descends is not destroyed.

3And it goes forth toward the north to the limits of Gadir, and it goes forth to the coast of the waters of the great sea, until it approaches the river Gihon; and it goes along the south of the waters of Gihon to the bank of this river.

4And this is the land that came out for Ham, as the portion which he was to occupy forever, for himself and for his sons throughout their generations forever.

5And for Japheth came out the third portion beyond the river Tina, toward the north of the outflow of its waters, and it extends northeastward to the whole region of Gog and to all the country east of it.

6And for Javan came forth the fourth portion, every island and the islands which are toward the border of Lud.

7And it extends until it approaches west of Fara, and it returns toward Aferag, and it extends eastward toward the waters of the Sea of Me'at.

8And the angel of the spirits, Mastema, came and said, “Lord, Creator, let some of them remain before me, and let them listen to my voice and do all that I tell them; for if some of them are not left to me from among them, I will not be able to exercise the authority of my will over the children of men, for these are for corrupting and leading astray before my judgment, for great is the wickedness of the children of men.”

9And the prince of spirits, Mastema, came and said, "Lord, Creator, leave some of them to me, and let them listen to my voice and do everything that I tell them; for if none of them is left to me, I will not be able to exercise the authority of my will among the children of men, because they are for corrupting and leading astray before my judgment, for great is the evil of the sons of men."

10And he said, "Let a tenth of them remain before him, and let nine parts descend into the place of judgment." And he told one of us that we should teach Noah all their remedies, for

11And for Tubal there came out a fifth portion in the midst of the tongue that approaches toward the portion of Lud, as far as the other tongue, into the region beyond the other tongue.

12The third tongue. And for Mesek came forth the sixth portion, all the region beyond the third tongue.

13And we told Noah along with their deceptions, so that they might be healed by the plants of the earth. And Noah wrote down everything that we had taught him in a book concerning every kind of healing, and the spirits were restrained.

14And Noah slept with his fathers, and he was buried on Mount Lubar in the land of Ararat. Nine hundred and fifty years he completed in his life, nineteen jubilees and two weeks and five years. And in his life on earth he surpassed the sons of men, except Enoch, because of the righteousness in which he was perfect. For Enoch’s task was created as a testimony for the generations of the world, so that he should recount all the deeds of generation after generation until the day of judgment.

15For he loved him more than all his sons. And Noah slept with his fathers.

16And he was buried on Mount Lubar in the land of Ararat. And he completed 950 years of his life.

17Nineteen jubilees, two weeks, and five years—which he lived on earth longer than the children of men because of the righteousness in which he was perfect, except for Enoch. For Enoch's role was created as a testimony to the generations of the world, so that he might recount all the deeds to the generations.

18And in the thirty-third jubilee, in the first year of the second week, Peleg took for himself a wife whose name was Lomna, the daughter of Shinar, and she bore him a son in the fourth year of this week. And he called his name Reu, for he said, “Behold, the children of men have become evil through the wicked purpose to build for themselves a city and a tower in the land.”
