Numbers 19

1And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

2This is the statute of the law that the LORD has commanded, saying: Speak to the sons of Israel, that they bring to you a red heifer, whole, in which there is no defect, and on which no yoke has come.

3You shall give it to Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring it outside the camp, and it shall be slaughtered before him.

4Then Eleazar the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and sprinkle some of its blood seven times toward the front of the tent of meeting.

5And he shall burn the cow before his eyes; its hide, its flesh, its blood, along with its dung, he shall burn.

6Then the priest shall take cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet yarn, and throw them into the midst of the burning of the cow.

7Then the priest shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp; but the priest shall be unclean until evening.

8The one who burns it shall wash his clothes in water and bathe his body in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.

9Then a clean man shall gather the ashes of the heifer and place them outside the camp in a clean place, and they shall be kept for the congregation of the sons of Israel for water for impurity; it is a sin offering.

10And the one who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and he shall be unclean until the evening. And this shall be for the sons of Israel and for the sojourner who sojourns among them as a permanent statute.

11Whoever touches a dead body of any person shall be unclean seven days.

12He shall purify himself with it on the third day and on the seventh day, and he will be clean; but if he does not purify himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not be clean.

13Everyone who touches a dead person, the body of a man who has died, and does not purify himself, has defiled the tabernacle of Yahweh, and that person shall be cut off from Israel. Because the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is still on him.

14This is the law: when a man dies in a tent, everyone who enters the tent and everyone who is in the tent shall be unclean seven days.

15And every open vessel that does not have a tied cover on it is unclean.

16And everyone who touches, in the open field, one slain by the sword, or a dead body, or a human bone, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

17And for the unclean person they shall take some of the dust from the burning of the purification offering, and he shall put living water on it in a vessel.

18Then a clean man shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, on all the vessels, on the persons who were there, and on the one who touched the bone, or the slain body, or the dead person, or the grave.

19And the clean person shall sprinkle it on the unclean person on the third day and on the seventh day; thus he shall purify him on the seventh day. Then he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he shall be clean at evening.

20But the man who becomes unclean and does not purify himself—that person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of Yahweh. The water for impurity has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean.

21And this shall be a permanent statute for them: the one who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and the one who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening.

22And everything that the unclean person touches shall become unclean, and the person who touches it shall be unclean until the evening.
