Numbers 30

1Moses spoke to the sons of Israel according to all that Yahweh had commanded Moses.

2Then Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the sons of Israel, saying, “This is the word that Yahweh has commanded:”

3If a man makes a vow to Yahweh, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that has gone out from his mouth.

4And if a woman vows a vow to Yahweh, and binds herself by an obligation in her father's house in her youth,

5And if her father hears her vow, or her binding obligation by which she has bound herself, and her father says nothing to her, then all her vows shall stand, and every binding obligation by which she has bound herself shall stand.

6But if her father forbids her on the day he hears of it, none of her vows or her binding obligations by which she has bound herself shall stand; and Yahweh will forgive her, because her father forbade her.

7But if she belongs to a husband, and her vows are upon her, or a rash utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself,

8And if her husband hears of it on the day he hears, and is silent toward her, then her vows shall stand, and her binding obligations that she bound on herself shall stand.

9But if, on the day her husband hears of it, he forbids her and annuls her vow that is upon her, or the rash utterance of her lips by which she bound herself, then Yahweh will forgive her.

10And the vow of a widow or of a divorced woman—everything by which she has bound herself—shall stand against her.

11And if in her husband's house she made a vow, or bound herself by an obligation with an oath,

12And if her husband hears and says nothing to her, and does not nullify her vow, then all her vows shall stand, and every binding obligation that she has bound on herself shall stand.

13But if her husband indeed annuls them on the day he hears, then nothing that came from her lips—whether her vows or her binding obligation upon herself—shall stand. Her husband has annulled them, and Yahweh will forgive her.

14Every vow and every binding oath to afflict the soul—her husband may confirm it, or her husband may annul it.

15But if her husband indeed keeps silent from day to day, then he confirms all her vows or all her obligations that are upon her; he has confirmed them, because he kept silent on the day he heard.

16But if he does indeed nullify them after he has heard of them, then he shall bear her guilt.

17These are the statutes that Yahweh commanded Moses concerning a man and his wife, and concerning a father and his daughter in her youth in her father's house.
