Prayer of Manasseh 1

1Lord Almighty, God of our fathers, of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and of their righteous offspring,

2the one who made heaven and earth, with all their host,

3the one who bound the sea by the word of your command,

4who shut up the abyss and sealed it with your fearful and glorious name,

5before whom all things shudder and tremble at the presence of your power, for the majesty of your glory is unendurable, and the wrath of your threat against sinners is unbearable,

6and the mercy of your promise is immeasurable and unsearchable;

7For you are the Lord Most High, compassionate, patient, and abounding in mercy, and relenting concerning the evils of men.

8So you, Lord, God of the righteous, did not appoint repentance for the righteous—for Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, who did not sin against you—but you appointed repentance for me, the sinner,

9For I have sinned beyond the number of the sand of the sea. My lawless deeds have multiplied, Lord; my lawless deeds have multiplied, and I am not worthy to look up and see the height of heaven because of the multitude of my unrighteous acts.

10I am bent down with many iron bonds, so that I cannot lift up my head, and there is no relief for me; because I provoked your wrath and did what is evil before you, setting up abominations and multiplying offenses.

11And now I bend the knee of my heart, imploring the kindness from you;

12I have sinned, Lord, I have sinned, and I myself know my lawless deeds;

13I beg you, pleading with you: forgive me, Lord, forgive me, and do not destroy me along with my lawless deeds, nor, being angry forever, keep my evils against me, nor condemn me in the lowest parts of the earth; for you, Lord, are the God of those who repent,

14and in me you will show your kindness; for you will save me, though I am unworthy, according to your abundant mercy,

15And I will praise you continually all the days of my life, for all the host of the heavens sings praise to you, and yours is the glory forever. Amen.
