Psalms of Solomon 5

1O Lord God, I will praise your name with exultation, in the midst of those who know your righteous judgments.

2For you are kind and merciful, the refuge of the poor.

3But if I cry out to you, do not be silent to me.

4For no one will take plunder from a mighty man.

5And who will take from all that you have made, unless you give it?

6For man and his portion from you are in the balance; he will not add so as to exceed your judgment, O God.

7When we are afflicted, we will call for help, and you will not turn away our plea, for you are our God.

8Do not lay your hand heavily upon us, so that we may not sin under compulsion.

9And if you do not turn us back, we will not keep away, but we will come to you.

10For if I am hungry, I will cry out to you, O God, and you will give to me.

11You feed the birds and the fish, as you give rain to the desolate places for the sprouting of grass, to prepare fodder in the wilderness for every living thing.

12And if they are hungry, they will lift up their faces to you.

13You feed kings and rulers and peoples, O God; and You sustain kings and rulers and peoples, O God; and who is the hope of the poor and needy, if not you, Lord?

14And you will hear, for who is kind and gentle but you, to gladden the soul of the humble when you open your hand in mercy?

15A man's kindness is sparing and for tomorrow; and if he repeats it without grumbling, even at this you will marvel.

16But your gift is abundant in kindness and rich, and the hope in you will not be disappointed in the gift.

17Your mercy is over all the earth, O Lord, in kindness.

18Blessed is the one whom God remembers with measured sufficiency.

19If a man has an abundance, he sins.
