A Song of Ascents.

In my distress I called to Yahweh, and he answered me.

Yahweh, deliver me from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.

What will be given to you, and what more will be done to you, you deceitful tongue?

A warrior’s sharp arrows, with coals of broom trees.

Woe to me, for I have lived as a foreigner in Meshech; I have lived among the tents of Kedar.

My soul has long dwelt with one who hates peace.

I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
