Psalms 129
Israel's Enemies Cannot Defeat Us
Open in the reader →A Song of Ascents.
1Greatly they have afflicted me from my youth—let Israel now say—
2Greatly they have afflicted me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me.
3Plowmen have plowed on my back; they have made their furrows long.
4Yahweh is righteous; he has cut the cords of the wicked.
5May all who hate Zion be ashamed and turn back.
6May they be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it is pulled up.
7with which the reaper does not fill his hand, nor does the one who gathers sheaves fill his bosom.
8and those who pass by do not say, “The blessing of Yahweh be upon you; we bless you in the name of Yahweh.”
