Psalms 135
Praise LORD Defeats Idols
Open in the reader →1Praise Yah! Praise the name of Yahweh; praise, servants of Yahweh,
who stand in the house of Yahweh, in the courts of the house of our God.
Praise Yah, for Yahweh is good; sing praises to his name, for it is pleasant.
For Yah has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his treasured possession.
For I know that Yahweh is great, and our Lord is above all gods.
Yahweh does whatever he pleases, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the depths.
He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he makes lightning for the rain; he brings out the wind from his storehouses.
who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, from man to beast.
He sent signs and wonders in your midst, Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.
who struck many nations and killed mighty kings,
Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan.
And he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to Israel his people.
Yahweh, your name endures forever; Yahweh, your renown endures from generation to generation.
For Yahweh will vindicate his people, and he will have compassion on his servants.
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands.
They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see.
They have ears, but they do not hear; indeed, there is no breath in their mouths.
Those who make them will become like them, everyone who trusts in them.
House of Israel, bless Yahweh; house of Aaron, bless Yahweh.
House of Levi, bless Yahweh; you who fear Yahweh, bless Yahweh.
Blessed be Yahweh from Zion, who dwells in Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
