Psalms 141

David Prays for Guarded Words

Open in the reader →

A psalm of David.

1O Yahweh, I call to you; hurry to me. Give ear to my voice when I call to you.

2May my prayer be set before you as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.

3Set a guard, O Yahweh, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.

4Do not incline my heart to anything evil, to commit wicked deeds with men who do evil; and let me not eat their delicacies.

5Let a righteous man strike me—it is a kindness; let him rebuke me—it is oil for the head; let my head not refuse it. Yet my prayer continues amid their calamities.

6When their judges are thrown down beside the cliff, they will hear my words, for they are pleasant.

7As when someone plows and breaks up the ground, our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

8For my eyes are toward you, O Yahweh, my Lord; in you I take refuge. Do not lay me bare.

9Keep me from the grasp of the trap they have set for me, and from the snares of those who do evil.

10Let the wicked fall into his nets together, while I pass by.
