Psalms 16

David Prays Trusting God

Open in the reader →

A miktam of David.

1Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in you.

2I said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”

3As for the holy ones who are in the land, they are the noble ones; all my delight is in them.

4The sorrows of those who hurry after another god will multiply; I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, nor will I take their names on my lips.

5Yahweh is my allotted portion and my cup; you uphold my lot.

6The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, my inheritance is pleasing to me.

7I will bless Yahweh, who counsels me; even at night my inner being instructs me.

8I have set Yahweh before me continually; because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; even my flesh will dwell securely.

10For you will not abandon me to Sheol, nor will you let your faithful one see the pit.

11You make known to me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forever.
