Psalms 71
Psalm Seeks Eternal Faith
Open in the reader →1In you, O Yahweh, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; incline your ear to me and save me.
Be for me a rock to dwell in, to which I may always come; you have commanded that I be saved, for you are my crag and my fortress.
My God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and violent man.
For you are my hope, Lord Yahweh, my confidence from my youth.
On you I have depended from the womb; you brought me out from my mother’s womb. I continually praise you.
I have become a wonder to many, but you are my strong refuge.
My mouth will be filled with your praise, with your splendor all day long.
Do not cast me off in old age; when my strength fails, do not forsake me.
For my enemies speak against me, and those who watch for my life consult together.
saying, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him.”
God, do not be far from me; my God, hurry to help me.
Let those who are hostile to my life be put to shame and come to an end; let those who seek my harm be clothed with reproach and disgrace.
But as for me, I will continually hope, and I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will recount your righteousness and your salvation all day long, for I do not know their number.
I will come in the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.
God, you have taught me from my youth, and to this day I declare your wondrous deeds.
Even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare your arm to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.
And your righteousness, O God, reaches to the heights—you who have done great things. O God, who is like you?
You, who have made us see many troubles and calamities, will revive us again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again.
You will increase my greatness and turn to comfort me.
I also will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will make music to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, and my soul, which you have redeemed, will also shout for joy.
My tongue also will speak of your righteousness all day long, for those seeking my harm have been put to shame; they have been disgraced.
