Psalms 80

For the choir director: according to “Lilies.” A testimony. A psalm of Asaph.

1Shepherd of Israel, give ear, you who lead Joseph like a flock; you who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth.

2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might and come to save us.

3God, restore us, and make your face shine, that we may be saved.

4O Yahweh God of hosts, how long will you fume at the prayer of your people?

5You have fed them bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in full measure.

6You make us a source of contention for our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves.

7God of hosts, restore us; make your face shine, that we may be saved.

8You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out nations and planted it.

9You cleared the ground before it, and it took root and filled the land.

10Its shade covered the mountains, and its branches the cedars of God.

11It sent out its branches as far as the sea, and its shoots as far as the River.

12Why have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass by the way pluck its fruit?

13A boar from the forest ravages it, and the wild animals of the field feed on it.

14God of hosts, please return; look down from heaven and see, and attend to this vine.

15and the plant that your right hand planted, the son whom you made strong for yourself—

16It is burned with fire and cut down; at the rebuke of your face they perish.

17Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand, upon the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself.

18Then we will not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call on your name.

19O Yahweh God of hosts, restore us; make your face shine, and we will be saved.
