Psalms 9

For the choirmaster: according to “The Death of the Son.” A psalm of David.

1I will give thanks to Yahweh with all my heart; I will recount all your wondrous deeds.

2I will rejoice and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, Most High.

3When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before you.

4For you have upheld my right and my cause; you sat on the throne, judging righteously.

5You rebuked nations; you destroyed the wicked; you blotted out their name forever and ever.

6O enemy, ruins have come to an end forever; you have uprooted cities; even their memory has perished.

7But Yahweh sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for judgment.

8And he will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with fairness.

9And Yahweh will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

10And those who know your name will trust in you, for you, O Yahweh, have not forsaken those who seek you.

11Sing praises to Yahweh, who dwells in Zion; declare his deeds among the peoples.

12For the one who calls bloodshed to account remembers them; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.

13Be gracious to me, O Yahweh; see my affliction caused by those who hate me, you who lift me up from the gates of death.

14so that I may recount all your praises at the gates of Daughter Zion; I will rejoice in your salvation.

15The nations have sunk into the pit they made; their foot has been caught in the net they hid.

16Yahweh is known; he has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah

17The wicked will return to Sheol—all the nations that forget God.

18For the needy will not be forgotten forever; the hope of the afflicted will not perish forever.

19Rise up, O Yahweh; do not let mortals prevail; let the nations be judged before you.

20Put fear in them, O Yahweh; let the nations know that they are human. Selah
