Romans 5

1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah,

2through whom we also have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

3And not only that, but we also rejoice in afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance,

4and endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.

5And hope does not put to shame, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who was given to us.

6For while we were still weak, at the right time Messiah died for the ungodly.

7For hardly will anyone die for a righteous person; though perhaps for a good person someone might even dare to die.

8But God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Messiah died for us.

9Much more then, having now been justified by his blood, we shall be saved through him from the wrath.

10For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life.

11And not only that, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

12Therefore, just as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death spread to all people, because all sinned—

13For until the law, sin was in the world; but sin is not counted where there is no law.

14Yet death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam’s transgression, who is a type of the coming one.

15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one man the many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus the Messiah, overflowed to the many.

16And the gift is not like what came through the one who sinned. For the judgment from one trespass led to condemnation, but the gracious gift from many trespasses led to justification.

17For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus the Messiah.

18So then, as through one trespass condemnation came to all people, so also through one righteous act justification that brings life came to all people.

19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20The law came in alongside so that the trespass might increase; but where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more,

21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus the Messiah our Lord.
