Song of Solomon 2
Lovers Exchange Deep Admiration
Open in the reader →1I am a flower of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
Like a lily among thorns, so is my love among the young women.
Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. I longed to sit in his shade, and sat down, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
He brought me into the house of wine, and his banner over me was love.
Sustain me with raisin cakes; refresh me with apples, for I am sick with love.
His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me.
I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field: do not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.
The sound of my beloved! Look, here he comes, leaping over the mountains, bounding over the hills.
My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look—there he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice.
My beloved answered and said to me, “Rise up, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.”
For look, the winter has passed; the rain is over and gone.
The blossoms appear in the land; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
The fig tree has formed its early figs, and the vines in blossom give off fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.
My dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding place of the cliff, let me see your appearance; let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your appearance is lovely.
Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that ruin vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom.
My beloved is mine, and I am his—the one who shepherds among the lilies.
Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved—be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of Bether.
