Song of Solomon 4

Man Praises Bride's Physical Beauty

Open in the reader →

Look, you are beautiful, my darling; look, you are beautiful. Your eyes are doves behind your veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats streaming down from Mount Gilead.

Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes that have come up from the washing, all of them bearing twins, and none among them has lost her young.

Your lips are like a scarlet thread, and your mouth is lovely. Your temples are like a slice of pomegranate behind your veil.

Your neck is like the tower of David, built in rows of stone; a thousand shields hang on it, all the shields of the warriors.

Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle, grazing among the lilies.

Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, I will go to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.

You are altogether beautiful, my beloved, and there is no blemish in you.

Come with me from Lebanon, my bride; with me from Lebanon, come. Look from the summit of Amanah, from the summit of Senir and Hermon, from lions’ dens, from mountains of leopards.

You have captured my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captured my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one ornament from your neck.

How beautiful your love is, my sister, my bride! How much better your love is than wine, and the fragrance of your oils than all spices!

Honey from the comb drips from your lips, bride; honey and milk are under your tongue, and the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

A locked garden is my sister, my bride; a locked spring, a sealed fountain.

Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates with choice fruits, henna with nards.

nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with all the frankincense trees, myrrh and aloes, with all the finest spices.

A spring of gardens, a well of living water, and streams flowing from Lebanon.

Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, so that its spices may flow. Let my beloved come into his garden and eat its choice fruits.
