Testament of Benjamin 2

1And when I went into Egypt, my brother recognized me and said to me, “They smeared your tunic with blood,” they said. “See whether this is the tunic.”

2And he said to me, “Yes, brother. And when they stripped me of my tunic they gave me to the Ishmaelites; and they gave me a loincloth, and after flogging me they told me to run.”

3And one of them, while he was striking me with a rod, was met by a lion, and the lion killed him.

4And thus his companions, being afraid, †kept me at ease†.

5And they themselves did not lie in saying these things; for he wanted to hide from me the deeds of our brothers.

6And he called his brothers to himself and said,

7Do not tell my father what you did to me, but speak in this way, just as I explained to Benjamin.

8And let such thoughts be in you, and let not these words come into the heart of my father.’
