Testament of Gad 4

1Therefore guard yourselves, my children, from hatred, because it even commits lawlessness against the Lord himself.

2For it does not want to hear the words of his commandments concerning love for his neighbor, and it sins against God.

3For if a brother falls, it is eager at once to report it to everyone, and it hastens concerning him so that, having been judged and punished, he may die.

4And if someone is a servant, it slanders him to his master, and in every distress it rejoices over him, if perhaps he may be put to death.

5For hatred works together with envy, even against those who prosper; hearing and seeing them in their progress, it is always weakened.

6Just as love wants to make the dead alive and to call back those under sentence of death, so also hatred wants to kill the living, and it does not want those who have sinned in a little matter to live.

7For the spirit of hatred, through faintheartedness, works together with Satan in everything for the death of men; but the spirit of love, through longsuffering, works together with the law of God for the salvation of men.
