Testament of Gad 6

1And now, my children, I urge you: let each one love his neighbor, and remove hatred from your hearts. Love one another in deed and word and in thought of soul.

2For I myself, in my father’s presence, spoke peaceably to Joseph; but when I had gone out from him, the spirit of hatred darkened my mind and disturbed my thoughts to kill him.

3Love one another from the heart; and if anyone sins against you, speak peace to him, and in your soul hold no deceit; and if he confesses and repents, forgive him.

4But if he denies it, do not contend with him, lest, when he swears, you sin doubly.

5Do not let another hear your secret in a quarrel, lest, having come to hate you, he become your enemy and commit a great sin against you; for many times he either murders you by treachery or entangles you in evils, having received the poison from you.

6But if he denies it and is ashamed when reproved, be still; do not reprove him. For the one who denies it repents of having sinned against you, so that he may not do wrong to you again, and being afraid he makes peace.

7But even if he is shameless and persists in evil, even so forgive him from the heart, and give vengeance to God.
