Testament of Issachar 3

1When therefore I grew up, my children, I walked in uprightness of heart, and I became a farmer for my father and for my brothers, and I brought in fruits from the fields in their season.

2And my father blessed me, seeing that I walked in simplicity before him.

3And I am not meddlesome in my actions, nor envious and malicious toward my neighbor.

4I never spoke ill of anyone, nor did I criticize a person's life.

5At thirty-five years of age I took a wife for myself, for my labor consumed my strength, and I did not think about a woman's pleasure; rather, because of my toil, sleep came over me.

6And my father always rejoiced in my simplicity, because I offered every firstborn through the priest to the Lord, and then also to my father.

7And the Lord multiplied the good things ten thousandfold in my hands; and Jacob my father also knew that God was working together with my simplicity. For I provided to all the poor and afflicted from the good things of the earth, in the simplicity of my heart.
