Testament of Judah 13

Judah Warns Children Sins

Open in the reader →

1And now I command you, my children: listen to Judah, your father, and keep my words in your hearts, to do all the righteous commands of the Lord and to obey the commands of God.

2Because I boasted that in wars the face of a beautiful woman had not deceived me,

3and I reproached Reuben my brother concerning Bilhah, my father’s wife, and the spirit of jealousy and sexual immorality arrayed themselves against me, until I completed it with Anan the Canaanite woman and with Tamar my daughter-in-law.

4For I said to my father-in-law, “I will consult my father, and then I will take your daughter.” But he was unwilling; instead, he showed me an immense amount of gold in the name of his daughter, for he was a king.

5And he adorned her with gold and pearls, and made her pour wine for us at the banquet.
