I Am First Last Virgin

Open in the reader →

For I am the first and the last.

Do not be ignorant of me. For I am the first and the last; I am the honored and the scorned; I am the whore and the holy one; I am the wife and the virgin.

I am the whore and the holy one.

I am the wife and the virgin.

I am the mother and the daughter.

I am the members of my mother. And I am the barren one—her children are many.

I am the midwife and she who does not give birth. I am the comfort of my labor pains. I am the bride and the bridegroom. I am the mother of my father and the sister of my husband.

I am the midwife and the mother. I am the virgin and the woman. I am the mother of my father, and the virgin of my—

I am the daughter and the woman. I am the mother of my father and the daughter of my husband, and he is my offspring.

My father, and the sister of my husband—and he is my offspring. I am the servant of my husband, and I am the Lady.

I am the mother of my father, and I am the sister of my husband, and he is my offspring.

I am the servant of the one who prepared me. I am the ruler of my offspring. But he is the one who begot me before the day of my birth.

[...] and the one who boasts brings these to me. I am the silence that is incomprehensible, and the thought whose remembrance is great. I am the voice whose sound is manifold, and the word that is multiple.

I am the voice whose sound is manifold, and the word whose appearance is manifold. I am the utterance of my name. Why, you who hate me, do you love me, and hate those who love me?

Why, you who hate me, do you love me, and hate those who love me? You who deny me, confess me, and you who confess me, deny me. You who say—

Those who deny me confess me, and those who confess me deny me. Those who speak truth about me lie about me, and those who lie about me speak truth about me.

Those who speak the truth about me, lie about me, and those who have lied about me, speak the truth about me. Those who know me, be ignorant of me, and those who have not known me, let them know me.
