She Hated Loved Called Death

Open in the reader →

and she who has no image among the barbarians. I am the one they have hated in many places, and I am the one they have loved in many places. I am the one they call “Death,” and I am the one they call “the Law.”

Among the peoples, they have named me “Death.” I am she whom they call “Law,” and you have called me “Lawlessness.” I am she whom you pursued, and I am she whom you seized.

And you have called me “Lawlessness.” I am she whom you pursued; and I am the one you have seized; I am she whom you scattered, and you have known.

And I am she whom you seized. I am she whom you scattered, and you gathered me in. I am she before whom you were ashamed, and you were shameless toward me.

...outwardly, and you knew me inwardly. I am she before whom you were ashamed, and you were shameless. I, I am godless, and I am the virgin, her God.

And I am she whose festivals are many. I, I am a godless one, and I am she whose God is great. I am the one you have pondered, and you have scorned me. I am an unlearned one, and they learn.

I am the one you have thought about, and you have mocked me. I am unlearned, and from me they learn. I am she whom you have scorned, and you think about me.

I am she whom you have despised, and I am she upon whom you have deliberated. I am she whom you have seized, and I am she whom you have made alive.

I am she from whom you hide, and you reveal me. But whenever you hide yourselves, I myself will appear.

I am she before whose face you were ashamed, and you were without shame toward me.

I am she who keeps no festival, and I am she whose festivals are many.

This is mine: I came forth in an earth, and you came to be manifest in knowledge; an earth is in your heart—you receive those outside, in places.

I am the one on whom you have set your mind, and you have rejected me.

I am the unlearned one, and you learn from me.

But out of shame, receive me to yourselves in shamelessness; and out of shamelessness and shame, reprove my members among yourselves; and approach yourselves.

I am the one from whom you hid yourselves, and you show yourselves to me.

And when you hide yourselves, I am the one who will be seen.

But whenever you appear, I will conceal myself from you.
