Wisdom of Solomon 1

1Love righteousness, you who judge the earth; think about the Lord with goodness, and seek him with singleness of heart.

2because he is found by those who do not test him, and he reveals himself to those who do not distrust him.

3For crooked thoughts separate from God, and when his power is tested, it exposes the foolish.

4For wisdom will not enter a soul that devises evil, nor dwell in a body enslaved to sin.

5For a holy spirit of discipline will flee deceit, and it will depart from senseless thoughts, and it will be rebuked when unrighteousness comes upon it.

6For wisdom is a spirit that loves humanity, and it will not acquit a blasphemer because of his lips; for God is witness of his inner motives, and a true observer of his heart and a hearer of his tongue.

7For the Spirit of the Lord has filled the inhabited world, and that which holds all things together has knowledge of every utterance.

8Therefore no one who speaks unrighteous things will escape notice, nor will convicting justice pass him by.

9For an inquiry will be made into the schemes of the ungodly, and a report of his words will come to the Lord for the exposing of his lawless deeds.

10for the ear of jealousy hears all things, and the sound of murmurings is not hidden.

11Therefore guard yourselves against useless grumbling, and spare your tongue from slander; for no secret utterance goes out empty, and a lying mouth destroys a soul.

12Do not court death by the error of your life, nor draw destruction upon yourselves by the works of your hands.

13For God did not make death, nor does he delight in the destruction of the living;

14For he created all things so that they might exist, and the generations of the world are health-giving, and in them there is no poison of destruction, nor the dominion of Hades upon the earth;

15For righteousness is immortal.

16But the ungodly, with their hands and their words, called for him; considering him a friend, they wasted away, and they made a covenant with him, because they are worthy to belong to his portion.
