Zechariah 10

1Ask Yahweh for rain in the time of the latter rain; Yahweh makes storm clouds, and he will give them showers of rain, to each man vegetation in the field.

2For the household idols speak wickedness, and the diviners see lies; they speak empty dreams and give vain comfort. Therefore they wander like sheep; they are afflicted because there is no shepherd.

3My anger burns against the shepherds, and I will punish the male goats; for Yahweh of Armies has attended to his flock, the house of Judah, and will make them like his majestic horse in battle.

4From him will come the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow; from him every ruler will go out together.

5They will be like mighty men, trampling the mire of the streets in battle; they will fight, because Yahweh is with them, and they will put horsemen to shame.

6I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph. I will restore them, because I have had compassion on them, and they will be as though I had not rejected them; for I am Yahweh their God, and I will answer them.

7Ephraim will be like a mighty warrior, and their heart will rejoice as with wine; their children will see and rejoice; their heart will exult in Yahweh.

8I will whistle for them and gather them, for I have redeemed them, and they will be as many as they were before.

9I will sow them among the peoples, and in distant places they will remember me; they and their children will live, and they will return.

10I will bring them back from the land of Egypt, and gather them from Assyria; I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon, and no room will be found for them.

11He will pass through the sea of distress and strike the waves of the sea, and all the depths of the Nile will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt will depart.

12I will strengthen them in Yahweh, and in his name they will walk,” declares Yahweh.
