1 Chronicles 26

1For the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah son of Kore, from the sons of Asaph.

2And Shelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, and Jathniel the fourth.

3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

4And Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sakar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth.

5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth; for God had blessed him.

6And to Shemaiah his son, sons were born who ruled over their fathers’ house, for they were mighty men of valor.

7The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, Elzabad, whose brothers were capable men, Elihu and Semakiah.

8All these were from the sons of Obed-edom—they and their sons and their brothers, able men with strength for the service—sixty-two belonging to Obed-edom.

9And Shelemiah had sons and brothers, valiant men, eighteen.

10And Hosah, from the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri the chief, though he was not the firstborn; his father made him chief.

11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and brothers of Hosah were thirteen.

12For these divisions of the gatekeepers, the chief men had assigned duties corresponding to those of their brothers, to minister in the house of Yahweh.

13And they cast lots, small and great alike, according to their fathers’ houses, for each gate.

14The lot for the east fell to Shelemyahu. Then they cast lots for his son Zekaryahu, a counselor with insight, and his lot came out for the north.

15To Obed-edom, the south; and to his sons, the house of stores.

16For Shuppim and Hosah, the lot fell to the west, with the Gate of Shallecheth on the ascending highway, guard corresponding to guard.

17On the east were six Levites; on the north, four a day; on the south, four a day; and at the storehouses, two by two.

18For the Parbar on the west: four at the road, and two at the Parbar.

19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers for the sons of the Korahites and for the sons of Merari.

20And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the holy things.

21The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonite belonging to Ladan: the heads of the fathers’ houses belonging to Ladan the Gershonite were Jehieli.

22The sons of Jehieli: Zetham and Joel his brother were over the treasuries of the house of Yahweh.

23For the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites.

24And Shebuel son of Gershom, son of Moses, was chief over the treasuries.

25And his brothers belonging to Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.

26Shelomoth and his brothers were over all the treasuries of the holy things that King David, the heads of the fathers’ houses, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the commanders of the army had dedicated.

27From the wars and from the spoil they had dedicated things to strengthen the house of Yahweh.

28And all that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated—everything that anyone had dedicated—was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.

29For the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were assigned to the outside work over Israel, as officers and judges.

30For the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his brothers, 1,700 capable men, were in charge of the oversight of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king.

31For the Hebronites, Jeriah was the chief of the Hebronites according to his generations by fathers’ houses. In the fortieth year of David’s reign they were sought out, and among them mighty men of valor were found at Jazer of Gilead.

32And his brothers, valiant men, were two thousand seven hundred heads of fathers’ houses; and King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter of God and of the king.
