And David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who prophesied with lyres, harps, and cymbals; and their number, the men for the work of their service, was:

Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah, sons of Asaph, under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.

Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun—Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six—under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the lyre in giving thanks and praise to Yahweh.

All these were sons of Heman, the king’s seer in the words of God, to exalt the horn. And God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

All these were under the direction of their father in the music of the house of Yahweh, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God, under the direction of the king: Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

Their number, together with their brothers who were trained in singing to Yahweh, all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.
