1 Chronicles 6

1The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.

2These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.

3And the sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

4The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites according to their fathers’ houses.

5To Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son.

6Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeatherai his son.

7The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son.

8Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son.

9Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.

10And the sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth.

11Elkanah his son, Elkanah his son, Zophai his son, and Nahath his son.

12Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son.

13And the sons of Samuel: the firstborn, Vashni, and Abijah.

14The sons of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son.

15Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son.

16These are the men whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of Yahweh, after the ark came to rest.

17They were ministering before the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, with song until Solomon built the house of Yahweh in Jerusalem, and they stood according to their ordinance over their service.

18And these are the ones who stood, and their sons: from the sons of the Kohathites: Heman the singer, son of Joel, son of Samuel.

19son of Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Eliel, son of Tohah.

20the son of Ziph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai.

21the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah.

22son of Tahath, son of Assir, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah.

23son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, son of Israel.

24And his brother Asaph stood at his right hand: Asaph son of Berechiah, son of Shimea.

25son of Michael, son of Baaseiah, son of Malkijah.

26the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah.

27son of Ethan, son of Zimmah, son of Shimei.

28son of Jahath, son of Gershom, son of Levi.

29And the sons of Merari, their brothers, were on the left: Ethan son of Kishi, son of Abdi, son of Malluch.

30the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah.

31son of Amzi, son of Bani, son of Shemer.

32son of Mahli, son of Mushi, son of Merari, son of Levi.

33And their brothers the Levites were appointed for all the service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

34And Aaron and his sons were offering on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the Most Holy Place and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

35And these were the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son.

36Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son.

37Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son.

38Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.

39These were their dwelling places according to their settlements within their territory, for the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathites; for the lot was theirs.

40They gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, with its pasturelands around it.

41But the fields of the city and its pasturelands they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh.

42And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, and Libnah with its pasturelands, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa with its pasturelands.

43and Hilen with its pasturelands, Debir with its pasturelands.

44Ashan with its pasturelands, and Beth-shemesh with its pasturelands.

45and from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its pasturelands, Alemeth with its pasturelands, and Anathoth with its pasturelands—all their cities were thirteen cities according to their families.

46And to the sons of Kohath who remained, from the families of the tribe, from the half-tribe, the half of Manasseh, ten cities were given by lot.

47And to the sons of Gershom, according to their clans, from the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan: thirteen cities.

48To the sons of Merari, according to their clans, from the tribe of Reuben, from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities by lot.

49And the sons of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their pasturelands.

50They assigned by lot from the tribe of the sons of Judah, and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, these cities, which they called by name.

51And from the families of the sons of Kohath, the cities of their territory were from the tribe of Ephraim.

52They gave them the cities of refuge: Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer with its pasturelands.

53and Jokmeam with its pasturelands, and Beth-horon with its pasturelands.

54and Aijalon with its pasturelands, and Gath-rimmon with its pasturelands.

55And from the half-tribe of Manasseh: Aner with its pasturelands, and Bileam with its pasturelands, for the clan of the remaining sons of Kohath.

56To the sons of Gershom, from the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands, and Ashtaroth with its pasturelands.

57And from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh with its pasturelands, and Daberath with its pasturelands.

58Ramoth with its pasturelands, and Anem with its pasturelands.

59and from the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its pasturelands, and Abdon with its pasturelands.

60and Hukok with its pasturelands, and Rehob with its pasturelands.

61And from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasturelands, Hammon with its pasturelands, and Kiriathaim with its pasturelands.

62To the sons of Merari who remained, from the tribe of Zebulun: Rimmono and its pasturelands, Tabor and its pasturelands.

63And beyond the Jordan at Jericho, east of the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness, with its pasturelands, and Jahzah, with its pasturelands.

64and Kedemoth with its pasturelands, and Mephaath with its pasturelands.

65And from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead with its pasturelands, and Mahanaim with its pasturelands.

66and Heshbon with its pasturelands, and Jazer with its pasturelands.
