1 Clement 47

1Take up the letter of the blessed Paul the apostle.

2What did he write to you first at the beginning of the gospel?

3In truth, he wrote to you spiritually about himself and Cephas and Apollos, because even then you had made partialities.

4But that partiality brought less sin upon you; for you inclined yourselves toward apostles who had been approved, and toward a man approved by them.

5But now consider who led you astray and diminished the dignity of your renowned brotherly love.

6It is shameful, beloved—very shameful and unworthy of conduct in Christ—that it should be heard that the very steadfast and ancient church of the Corinthians is in revolt against the elders because of one or two persons.

7And the report has reached not only us, but also those who are estranged from us, so that even blasphemies are brought upon the name of the Lord because of your foolishness, while you bring danger upon yourselves.
