1 Enoch 103

1And now I know this mystery for you, O righteous ones, by the glory of the Great and Honored and Mighty One in dominion, and by his greatness I know it for you.

2For I know the mystery, and I have read the tablets of heaven, and I have seen the holy writings, and I found written in them and understood concerning them.

3For every good thing and joy and glory have been prepared and written down for the spirits of those who died in righteousness; and much good will be given to you as the fruit of your labor, and your portion will abound beyond the portion of the living.

4And your spirits will live, you who died in righteousness, and they will rejoice and be glad, and their spirits will not perish, and their remembrance will be before the face of the Great One for all the generations of eternity. And now, do not fear their humiliation.

5Woe to you, dead sinners, when you die in the wealth of your sins, and those like you say about you, ‘Blessed are these sinners; they have seen all their days.’

6And now they have died in prosperity and in wealth and they did not see distress and slaughter in their lifetime; and they died in honor, and judgment was not executed against them in their lifetime.

7Know that they will bring your souls down to Sheol, and their recompense will be evil and great.

8And into darkness and into a snare and into a blazing fire your spirits shall enter, into the great judgment; and the great judgment shall be for all the generations of eternity. Woe to you, for you have no peace.

9Do not say, you righteous and good who are in life, “In the days of our affliction we toiled hard, and we saw every trouble, and we encountered many evils, and we were oppressed and made few, and our spirit became small.”

10And we were destroyed, and there was no one to help us with a word; and we found nothing. We were tormented and destroyed, and we had no hope of seeing life from day to day.

11We hoped to become the head, and we became the tail; we toiled, but we did not gain mastery over our labor; and we became food for sinners and for the lawless, and they laid their yoke heavily upon us.
