1 Enoch 63

1In those days the mighty ones and the kings who possess the dry land shall beg the angels of punishment, into whose hands they have been delivered, that they might give them a little respite, so that they may fall down and worship before the Lord of Spirits, and confess their sins before him.

2And they will bless and praise the Lord of spirits, and they will say, “Blessed is the Lord of spirits, and the Lord of the kings, and the Lord of the mighty, and the Lord of the rich, and the Lord of glory, and the Lord of wisdom.”

3And your power is blessed in every hidden thing throughout all generations, and your glory forever and ever. Deep are all your hidden things, and they are without number; and your righteousness is beyond reckoning.

4Now we know that we ought to praise and bless the Lord of the kings, and the one who reigns over all the kings.

5And they said, “Who has given us rest, that we should praise and thank and believe before your glory?”

6Now we desire a little rest, but we do not find it; we are driven away, and we cannot seize it, and the light has passed away from before us, and darkness will be our dwelling forever and ever.

7For before him we did not believe, and we did not praise the name of the Lord of Spirits, [and we did not praise our Lord,] and our hope was in the scepter of our kingdom and in our glory.

8And on the day of our distress and our affliction, he will not save us, and we shall find no rest to believe that our Lord is faithful in all his works and in his judgments and his righteousness, and his judgments show no partiality.

9And we pass away from before his face because of our deeds, and all our sins are counted in righteousness.

10Now they will say to them, ‘Our soul has had its fill of unjust gain, but it does not keep us from going down from the midst of it into the burden of Sheol.’

11And after this, their faces will be filled with darkness and shame before that Son of Man, and they will be driven away from before his face, and a sword will abide before his face in their midst.

12Thus said the Lord of Spirits: "This is the ordinance and the judgment for the mighty."
