Shepherds Misrule Flock Sheep Rebuilt

Open in the reader →

And I saw until the time when thirty-seven shepherds were pasturing in this way, and they all completed their periods, each in its time, like the former ones; and others received them into their hands, to pasture them in their times, each shepherd in its time.

And after that I saw in my vision all the birds of heaven coming—eagles, vultures, kites, and ravens—and the eagles led all the birds. And they began to devour those sheep, and to peck out their eyes and devour their flesh.

And the sheep cried out because their flesh was being devoured by the birds, and I looked and lamented in my sleep over that shepherd who was shepherding the sheep.

And I saw until those sheep were devoured by the dogs and by the eagles and by the kites, and they left them no flesh at all, nor skin, nor sinew, until only their bones stood there; and even their bones fell upon the earth, and the sheep became few.

And I saw until the time when twenty-three were shepherding, and they completed, in their respective times, fifty-eight times.

And behold, lambs were born from those white sheep, and their eyes began to be opened, and they saw, and they cried out to the sheep.

And they cried out to them, but they did not heed their words; rather, they were exceedingly deaf, and their eyes were exceedingly blinded.

And I saw in the vision that ravens flew down upon those lambs, and they seized one of those lambs and dashed the sheep to pieces and devoured them.

And I saw until horns came out for those lambs, and the ravens cast down their horns. And I saw until one great horn sprouted on one of those sheep, and their eyes were opened.

And it looked at them, [and their eyes were opened,] and it cried out to the sheep and said to them, “Look!” and they all ran to it.

And with that, all those eagles and vultures and ravens and kites kept snatching away the sheep even until now, and swooping down upon them and devouring them; but the sheep remained silent, and the rams lamented and cried out.

And those ravens fought and battled with him, and they wanted to remove his horn, but they did not prevail against him.

And I saw until the shepherds and the eagles and the vultures and the kites came, and they cried out to the ravens to break the horn of that ram; and they fought and battled with him, and he fought with them, and cried out that his help might come.

And I saw until that man came, the one who had written down the names of the shepherds, and he brought them up before the Lord of the sheep; and he helped him and rescued him, and he showed him everything concerning the downfall of his helper.

And I watched until the Lord of the sheep came to them in wrath, and all who saw him fled, and they all fell into the shadow before his face.

And all the eagles and the vultures and the ravens and the kites gathered together and came with them, with all the wild sheep; and they all came together and helped one another so as to break the horn of that ram.

And I saw until that man, who was writing a book by the word of the Lord, opened that book of destruction which those twelve shepherds had wrought, and he showed before the Lord of the sheep that they had destroyed much more than those before them.

And I saw until the Lord of the sheep came to them, and he took in his hand the staff of wrath and struck the earth; and the earth split open, and all the beasts and all the birds of heaven fell away from among those sheep and sank into the earth, and it covered over them.

And I saw until a great sword was given to the sheep, and the sheep went out against all the beasts of the field to kill them; and all the beasts and the birds of heaven fled from before their face.

And I saw until a throne was set up in the pleasant land, and the Lord of the sheep sat upon it; and he took all the sealed books and opened those books before the Lord of the sheep.

And the Lord of the sheep called those seven first white ones and commanded that they bring before him, beginning with the first star that went before those stars whose private parts were like those of horses, that first one which went out before them; and they brought them before him.

And he said to that man who was writing before him, who was one of those seven white ones, and he said to him, “Take those seventy shepherds to whom I delivered the sheep; and they, taking them, killed many more than I commanded them.”

And behold, I saw all the prisoners, and they all stood before him.

And judgment took place first upon the stars, and they were judged and were found to be sinners, and they went to the place of judgment; and they cast them into an abyss, full of fire and flaming, and full of pillars of fire.

And those shepherds were judged and were found to be sinners, and they were cast into that abyss of fire.

And I saw at that time that a similar deep abyss was opened in the middle of the earth, full of fire; and they brought those blinded sheep, and all of them were judged and were found to be sinners, and they were cast into that deep abyss of fire, and they burned. And this abyss came to be at the right side of that house.

And I saw those sheep while they were burning, and their bones were burning.

And I stood watching until that old house was folded up; and they carried out all the pillars, and all the beams and ornaments of that house were folded up with it, and they carried it out and set it down in one place in the south of the land.

And I saw until the Lord of the sheep brought a new house, greater and loftier than the first, and set it up in the place of the first, which had been folded up; and all its pillars were new, and its ornaments were new and greater than those of the first old one that he had taken away, and all the sheep were within it.

And I saw all the sheep that were left, and every beast that was upon the earth, and all the birds of heaven, falling down and bowing to those sheep, and making petition to them, and obeying them in every word.

And after that, those three clothed in white who had taken me by the hand, who had brought me up before, and the hand of that ram holding me, brought me up and set me down in the midst of those sheep before the judgment took place.

And those sheep all became white, and their hair became thick and pure.

And all those that had been scattered and dispersed, and all the beasts of the field and all the birds of heaven, were gathered into that house; and the Lord of the sheep rejoiced with great joy, because they had all become good and had entered into his house.

And I saw until they laid aside that sword which had been given to the sheep, and they brought it into the house and sealed it before the face of the Lord; and all the sheep were summoned into that house, and it did not contain them.

And the eyes of them all were opened, and they saw well, and there was not one among them that did not see.

And I saw that that house became great and broad and exceedingly full.

And I saw that a white bull was born, and its horns were great; and all the beasts of the field and all the birds of heaven feared it and entreated it at all times.

And I saw until all their kinds were transformed, and they all became white cattle; and the first among them became a wild ox, and that wild ox became a great beast, and it had great black horns on its head.
