1 Peter 4

1Therefore, since the Messiah suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same mindset, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

2so as to live the rest of his time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for the will of God.

3For the time that has passed is enough to have carried out the will of the Gentiles, having walked in sensualities, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and lawless idolatries.

4In this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same flood of debauchery, slandering you.

5They will give an account to the one who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

6For this is why the gospel was also proclaimed to the dead: so that, though judged according to men in the flesh, they might live according to God in the spirit.

7But the end of all things has drawn near. Therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for prayers.

8Above all, maintain fervent love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

9Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

10As each has received a gift, use it in serving one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

11If anyone speaks, let it be as the utterances of God; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus the Messiah, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial among you that is happening to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

13But insofar as you share in the sufferings of Messiah, rejoice, so that at the revelation of his glory you may also rejoice with exultation.

14If you are insulted in the name of Messiah, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

15For let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler.

16But if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this name.

17For it is time for judgment to begin from the household of God; and if it begins first from us, what will be the outcome for those who disobey the gospel of God?

18And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19Therefore, let also those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing good.
