Peter 5

Elders Care by Example Faith

Open in the reader →

Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of the Messiah, and also a sharer in the glory that is about to be revealed:

Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion but willingly, according to God; nor for shameful gain, but eagerly.

not domineering over those allotted to your care, but becoming examples to the flock.

And when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

Likewise, you younger men, submit yourselves to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the proper time,

casting all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.

Be clear-minded; stay alert. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

And the God of all grace, who called you into his eternal glory in Messiah, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore, establish, strengthen, and ground you.

To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Through Silvanus, the faithful brother, as I regard him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.

She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you, and so does Mark, my son.

Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Messiah.
