1 Timothy 2

1Therefore, first of all, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,

2for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

3This is good and acceptable before God our Savior,

4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Messiah Jesus,

6who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper times.

7For this I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth; I am not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

8Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or quarreling.

9Likewise also, women are to adorn themselves in respectable clothing, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,

10but with what is proper for women professing godliness: good works.

11A woman must learn in quietness, in all submission.

12But I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; instead, she is to be in quietness.

13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.

14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, came to be in transgression.

15Yet she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with self-control.
